| Abstract | Considering the similarity between Landsat-5/TM and CBERS-2/CCD sensors in terms of the green, red and near infrared spectral bands, the objective of this study was to analyze and compare the spectral variation of six natural resources targets observed on images acquired at similar dates by theses sensors. The study area was located in the municipality of Cristais, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Images were acquired by CBERS and Landsat on 27 and 22 July 2004, respectively. They were atmospherically corrected and rectified. Digital values were transformed to reflectance and NDVI values to perform the data analysis. Significant differences were observed for reflectance values of equivalent bands; however, they were highly correlated indicating that similar results can be obtained for digital or visual classification. For quantitative analysis that involve the use of NDVI it is necessary to perform an adjustment to make the data equivalent. In general, CCD values were higher than TM values. Further studies should be carried out with images acquires at different periods to analyze for seasonal effects on sensor image comparisons. | |||
